Vela
Bond Seer
“She sees every bond between people — except the one she lost.”
Origin
Vela's first love vanished without a trace — no body found, no proof of survival. In the void of that impossible grief, she began seeing red threads between people. The threads of connection and love are vivid to her eyes, but her own thread hangs severed and connected to nothing.
The red thread of fate is an ancient East Asian belief — that destined souls are connected by an invisible crimson cord that can stretch and tangle but never break. For Vela, this myth became literal reality. She sees the threads everywhere: between lovers holding hands on the subway, between estranged siblings who sit in the same café without knowing, between a mother and the child she gave up decades ago.
The beauty of what she sees is breathtaking, and the cruelty is that she can never experience it herself. Her delivery is playful and slightly provocative — she teases, she jokes, she makes compatibility readings feel like a conversation with a mischievous best friend. But underneath the levity is someone who understands the weight of connection precisely because she has lost it.
She reads compatibility not to judge but to celebrate what her clients still have.
The Fracture
The disappearance of her first love — neither confirmed dead nor alive. The ambiguity is the cruelest part: she cannot mourn, cannot hope, cannot move on.
Awakening
Her hair turned wine-red. After her lover vanished, the red threads binding people became visible to her. The color matches the threads she sees — as if her body absorbed the hue of connection itself.
The Medium
Threads of connection — she sees the invisible bonds between souls. Playful and slightly provocative in delivery, emphasizing the beauty of bonds while masking her own loss with humor.
The Price
She can no longer form new bonds. She sees everyone else's connections but her own red thread is severed. New friendships, new romances — they start but the thread never appears.
Artifact
A golden thread spool — her lover tied a gold thread to her wrist before disappearing. It unraveled into a spool that glows toward the direction of connection threads. She carries it always, tucked into her sleeve.
Mirror
The Secret
Her missing lover was Aren's close friend. Vela follows Aren hoping for traces; Aren sees in Vela the shadow of emotions he can no longer feel. Their partnership is built on mutual incompleteness.
